Who Are We?
Futuraskolan Danderyd is an international pre-school which follows the Swedish national curriculum. We have room for 100 children between 1 and 6 years. Departments are created based on the ages of the children and vary in size from 15 to 20 children per group. Each department is lead by a team of three teachers.
Where Are We?
Our premises are located at Danderydsvägen in Djursholm. We have a large yard and playground area where the children can develop both gross and fine motor skills as well as a curiosity for nature. We make field trips within the area of Danderyd.
What Do We Offer and How Do We Work?
We work thematically to stimulate learning in the areas of language, mathematics and natural sciences. We utilize many forms of pedagogical documentation, but something that follows our children through the years is their personal portfolio.
Each department has their own age specific area which is designed to encourage and inspire the development of the children. We also have common areas such as our art, natural science and computer room.
We promote multicultural and global awareness and help the children to be open-minded and to develop a sense of their own nationality and culture at the same time as developing a profound respect for the nationalities and cultures of others.
English is our main language during all activities throughout the day but we also provide the children with opportunities to develop the Swedish language by letting Swedish coexist with the English language sometimes during circle time, playing, listening to books and songs and during Swedish events like Lucia. We also make use of our Native language library as we believe it is important to nurture every child’s native language and culture.
Along with our daily thematic activities, it is our ambition to be outside two hours daily.
One of the ways for our families to be involved in our school is through the Parent Support Association. This is a forum for open dialog where we can exchange ideas, encourage parent involve- ment and allow parents opportunities to influence activities in the pre-school.
