Who we are

Futuraskolan International Brunbärsvägen is an international pre-school which follows the Swedish national curriculum in combination with International Curriculum Association’s Early Years Curriculum (IEYC). We have 120 children between the ages of 1 and 6 years. Departments are created based on the ages of the children and vary in size from 15 to 21 children per group. Each department is lead by a team of teachers. We focus on providing our children with a voice, engaging activities and recognizing their day to day accomplishments. Most importantly, we want our children to have fun!

Our Location

We are located in Ruddammen, Östermalm. Outside our school is a large playing field and playground area and we are only a short walk away from the forest Lill-Jansskogen. By utilizing the city transportation we have a plethora of Stockholm’s museums, theatres and parks at our fingertips.

What we offer and how we work

We work thematically to stimulate learning in the areas of language, mathematics and natural sciences.

Each department has an age specific learning environment which is designed to encourage and stimulate the development of the children. We also have common areas such as our gym, art room, dramatic play area, math and construction areas, natural science area and libraries where the children can interact with other groups of varying ages.

English is our medium of communication but we also provide the children with opportunities to develop their Swedish language and mother tongue through the use of literature, songs, events and everyday interaction.

Along with indoor daily activities, the children are provided outdoor play two hours daily.

Our partnership with the home is developed in many ways, one of which is through the Parent Support Association. This is a forum for open dialog with our parents where we can exchange ideas and encourage parent involvement.

🇸🇪 Today at Brunsbärsvägen, we celebrated Sweden’s National Day! We proudly listened to the Swedish national anthem as the Swedish flag was raised on the flagpole.

The children proudly waved the beautiful Swedish flags they had made themselves while listening to the anthem. Some of the children enthusiastically shouted, “Happy Birthday, Sweden!” and “Heja Sverige!” with great pride, making the celebration even more special.

It was a meaningful day to celebrate Sweden, the country we all call home. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn about and honor the traditions of the place where we live.

Happy National Day, Sweden! 💙💛

Our outdoor party turned the field into a place full of laughter, excitement and happy memories. The children enjoyed face painting, colorful tattoos, sparkly nail polish, bubbles, balloons, music and dancing.

At the same time, our flea market became a meaningful part of the day through our Global Citizen Project 🌍♻️. Together, we explored how objects can find a new home instead of becoming trash, and how small actions can help us care for our planet and the world around us.

The children were involved throughout the whole process — helping to bake, putting signs around the preschool, sorting the items and preparing for the market together. Through sharing, reusing and working as a community, they experienced how even little hands can make a big positive difference.

This special day beautifully connected joy, learning, creativity and sustainability, reminding us all that caring for each other and for our Earth can go hand in hand, but most importantly we celebrated the amazing preschool that we are.

Thank to our families for their support and making the flea market the huge success that it was! ❤️

Each family is welcome to bring a book to read to the group in their native language(s). They set off on an exciting journey to Täby, hopping on a bus to join forces with 5 preschools and 5 schools for a powerful day of plogging and a joyful walkathon 💚
Together, our little heroes worked side by side, showing that when a community comes together, we can make a big difference for our planet 🌱✨
With every step and every piece of litter collected, they proved that caring for the Earth is a mission we all share — as global citizens and as one strong, united community 🌎

Today at Brunbärsvägen we celebrated Earth Month with a special walkathon / plogging activity with the whole preschool on the Field 🌍💚 We started with a warm up dance all together!
A walkathon is when we walk together for a cause today, our focus was learning how to care for our planet. As we walked around the field, we talked about how small actions can make a big difference.
