| Futura International Pre-School is an English speaking pre-school located in Ruddammen, Östermalm, in the city of Stockholm. With English being the only language of direction, we strive to make sure that all of our teachers are native English speakers.
Futura International was started January 28th, 2008 and has a capacity for 120 children. January 2010 we have reached 115 children with seven departments.
Our curriculum is based on, but not limited to, the Swedish Pre-School Curriculum “Lpfö 98”. By enhancing our daily activities and routines, we run parallel to an international curriculum as well. We aim to help each child develop so they can easily transition from our pre-school to their future school, no matter where it may be located in our world. As an international pre-school, we want to help our children develop into independent, caring, and inquisitive global citizens.
The school day consists of a wide range of activities guiding each child through fun learning. The older children receive English workbooks that they can use in school and at home. |

We introduce the children to reading through phonics, introduce mathematics through various hands-on activities, as well as conduct fun experiments in order to introduce the world of science in an exciting fashion. Art, music, and physical play are also a significant part of the child’s day.
During supervised free play, we make sure that the children have toys and other tools available at hand to help spark their imagination and open their creative floodgates. All children have outdoor time for at least two to four hours every day. The children between one and three have naptime, while the older ones have a relaxing quiet time during the middle part of the day.
Cultural traditions such as Midsummer, Halloween, and Lucia are all celebrated annually. Events such as Chemistry Day, The Futura Nobel Lunch, and Pi Day are Elementary School traditions in which we also participate.
Futura International Pre-School receives catering from Svarta Lådan, a company that focuses on healthy food made from scratch. They serve well-balanced meals which include wholegrain and fiber-rich ingredients. Tasty alternatives for vegetarians and children with food allergies are also offered every day.
The pre-school is open between 7:30 and 17:30 every weekday, though closed on National Holidays and four weeks during the summer. |
